Alte Oper
With the opening in the fall of 1880, Frankfurt received its own opera house for the first time, designed according to the plans of Berlin architect Richard Lucae. In terms of relevance, nothing has changed behind the historic facade to this day: Every year, around 490,000 guests attend the more than 460 events, which revolve around classical music, musicals and concerts, but also congresses, events and programs for children and young people. The large hall can seat 2,400 guests, and there are also several smaller halls, such as the Mozart Hall with another 700 seats or the Clara Schuhmann Foyer on the second floor, which was recently extensively renovated.
