The Gallus is a district of contrasts: while social housing and older buildings are located in one part, the Europa district was created in the north on the site of the former main freight station. Office buildings, apartment buildings, stores, hotels and parks are lined up along Europa-Allee. Next to the trade fair center, the skyscraper "Tower 185" was completed in 2012, and the Skyline Plaza shopping center opened opposite a year later.
