Frankfurt/Eckenheim
Eckenheim is located about five kilometers north of the city center. The old town center is still characterized by half-timbered houses and winding alleys. Until the beginning of the 20th century, Eckenheim was still a village whose inhabitants consisted mainly of farmers and gardeners who delivered their produce to Frankfurt. Frankfurt's main cemetery, which covers more than 70 hectares, extends to the south; the 5.5-hectare New Jewish Cemetery on Eckenheimer Landstrasse is also located entirely on Eckenheim territory.
