Willemer Häuschen
The Willemer Häuschen, also called Willemer-Gartenhaus, is a neoclassical garden house from the early 19th century. It is located in the district of Sachsenhausen. Together with the Goethe House in the city center, it is the most important memorial to the famous poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who was born in Frankfurt. He is said to have met there frequently with Marianne von Willemer around the year 1814. After being destroyed during World War II, the cottage was rebuilt. Today, it houses a Goethe memorial that is open to the public and is spread over all three floors. Around the house is a small ornamental garden reminiscent of a park, with walking paths, shrubs and large trees, including two side-by-side Ginkgo trees in the back.
