Petrihaus im Brentanopark
The Petrihaus is located directly on the Nidda River in the Rödelheim district. Its history began around the year 1720, when master baker Johannes Petri built the house. In 1819, banker Georg Brentano bought the property, remodeled it, and thus added to his extensive private garden. His siblings Bettina von Arnim and Clemens Brentano, the most important representatives of the important Romantic family, were guests there several times. Since 1926, the park has been owned by the city of Frankfurt, which transformed it into a citizens' park - the Brentanopark. The Petrihaus has been extensively renovated: The second floor houses a Brentano Museum, while the first floor is used for public and private events. Tip: Take a look at the ginkgo tree next to the building. It is considered the oldest specimen in Germany and is protected as a natural monument.
