Nizza-Gärten
The park directly on the banks of the Main is considered one of the largest public parks with Mediterranean planting north of the Alps. Its origins go back to the first official Frankfurt city gardener, Sebastian Rinz, who first brought exotic plants to the Main in 1875. Due to the protection of the quay wall and the favorable solar radiation, a mild microclimate prevails here. Thus, over the years, a park has been created which, with its Mediterranean selection of plants, is reminiscent of the French Riviera. Palm trees, fig trees, lemon trees and numerous other Mediterranean plants grow on a total area of 4.4 hectares.
