For a long time the district was divided into two parts - including two town halls - but in 1899 it was united. And the district has also long since arrived in the modern age. Starting in the mid-1980s, the Mertonviertel office and residential district was built in the northeast; the modern infrastructure has attracted medium-sized and large companies to this location. But also the financial world: the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) and the Federal Republic of Germany - Finance Agency GmbH are based here.
