Urban Kibbutz: 01 Affordable Housing – A Community Builds a City (Introduction)
Die Veranstaltung findet auf Englisch statt / The event will be held in English In Kooperation mit dem Lieblinghaus Tel Aviv Location: DAM — Deutsches Architekturmuseum (Frankfurt), Liebling Haus (Tel Aviv-Yafo) and on YouTube. Each speaker has 6 min' and 40 sec' Tel Aviv-Yafo and Frankfurt face similar housing challenges: soaring rents, widening social divides, and unstable rental markets. Marking 45 years of their city partnership, we are launching a four-part hybrid PechaKucha series on community housing in metropolitan contexts. Each evening will feature rapid-fire presentations by leading experts from both cities, sharing case studies and exploring architectural solutions, community based models, and innovative financing strategies. The first session will set the stage, examining Israeli and European perspectives inspired by the cooperative spirit of the kibbutz. Moving beyond theoretical discussion, the series aims to spark actionable initiatives in both cities, culminating in a public forum. Together, we will explore how shared infrastructure, democratic governance, and sustainable residential design can meet the needs of contemporary urban life. Admission: 7 Euro
