Ein Blick von der Brücke
Eddie Carbone is a good man. He takes care of Beatrice, his wife, and Catherine, his seventeen-year-old niece, whose parents have died. Then Marco and Rodolfo arrive in the country. Illegal immigrants, both cousins of Beatrice. It's a matter of honor that Eddie hides them from the immigration authorities. But Catherine, who loves Eddie like a daughter - or something more than just a daughter? - falls in love with Rodolfo. And Eddie lashes out, denounces the family, loses control. Loses everything. The parallels to the fate of migrants today are obvious. But the questions that Arthur Miller asks in his two-act play go beyond this, they point to fate and entanglement, guilt and dependency.
