Nik Kershaw - Celebrating 40 years of “Human Racing” and “The Riddle“ and much more
Wouldn't it be good, The Riddle, I Won't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, Dancing Girls, Wide Boy, The One & Only - pop anthems by Nik Kershaw that are part of the standard repertoire of every radio station. "1984" is the name of the dystopian novel by George Orwell, but 1984 is also the year in which NIK KERSHAW was the bestselling British artist. His singles spent 62 weeks in the Top 40 singles charts and 1984 is the year two platinum albums "Human Racing" and "The Riddle" were released. For the fortieth anniversary, Nik and his band will play both albums in their entirety, plus a few encores of course. This will be a one-off and only on this tour... Nik signed to MCA Records in 1983 and stormed the charts the following year with "I Won't Let The Sun Go Down". The son of an architect and an opera singer hit the nerve of the times with his songs and his sound and made his international breakthrough with "Wouldn't It Be Good" in 1984. Successful tours and further hits such as "The Riddle" followed. In 1985, Nik performed at the "Live Aid" concert organized by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, among others. After further albums, he decided to leave the limelight in 1989 and worked in the background as a songwriter and producer with artists such as Cliff Richard, Bonnie Tyler, Ronan Keating, Jason Donovan, Nick Carter, Michael W Smith, Connah Reeves, Colin Blunstone, Petula Clark, Gary Barlow, The Hollies, Elton John and Tony Banks (Genesis). Nik is repeatedly praised by legends such as Eric Clapton, Miles Davis and Elton John as one of the best songwriters of his generation. Nik has been nominated for 4 Brit Awards. The killer hit "The One & Only", for example, was written by him for Chesney Hawkes. Nik Kershaw has been releasing his own albums again since 1998. "15 Minutes", "To Be Frank" (2001), "You've Got To Laugh" (2006) the solo acoustic album "No Frills" (2009), "Ei8ht" (2012), "Oxymoron" (2020), as well as the singles 'The Sky's The Limit', 'You're The Best' and the two E.P.s "Songs from the Shelf" parts 1 & 2 in May 2022 and April 2023. Of course, Nik is always drawn back to the stage to feel the unique energy of live concerts and to play his old and current songs for all his fans worldwide.
