Museum Giersch Inside - The guided tour with workshop ‘Drawing rooms - interior design made easy’

From October 25, 2024 to February 16, 2025, the MGGU - Museum Giersch of Goethe University is showing the exhibition "Our House. Artistic positions on living". Look forward to an exciting guided tour through the current exhibition and then enjoy a creative workshop on the topic of "Drawing Rooms". Our House: Our House is the MGGU building, a villa with a history. Built in 1910 as a residence, later the headquarters of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, it has been a museum since 2000. The familiar atmosphere of the former living quarters has always fascinated visitors. Now the focus is on the residential character of the house itself: works by contemporary artists as well as historical positions are on display. They are all dedicated to the most diverse facets of living, from the interior as an aesthetic stage to the precarious living situation of refugees and homeless people to the claustrophobic interior of the corona lockdowns. For the exhibition, several site-specific, new works are being created that deal with the housing situation in Frankfurt and the museum building. In a guided tour through the exhibition, participants will first get an impression of some of the artistic positions on housing. Afterwards, they can use paper and pens in our creative room to design their favorite room and draw it.
